Staff & Volunteers

Sonia Kamath is a student at the University of St. Andrews studying International Relations and Sustainable Development. She has spent the past 4 years of her academic career specializing in environmental advocacy and policy with a strong focus on agriculture and agricultural interventions. She is thrilled to be a member of The Sunshine Kitchen team. When she is not at The Sunshine Kitchen, you can find her at the botanical garden working with their youth program, engaging with clubs on campus, or singing with her a cappella group.

Anne Reijnierse works in the Craigtoun Cafe and garden on Wednesday’s and at the East  Neuk garden during the summer months. Anne loves being part of the Wednesday team and really enjoys her time with everyone there. Anne’s background is in Early Years education and teaching. For several years Anne and her husband had a small market garden business growing flowers, vegetables and herbs, which ties in nicely with The Sunshine Kitchen.

Rosa Doran is a Fine Art graduate from the University of Edinburgh who works as the stall supervisor at The Sunshine Kitchen markets. Away from the Sunshine Kitchen, Rosa works with young adults as a volunteer, as well as working within the food and drink industry. Rosa loves the work of The Sunshine Kitchen and the opportunities it affords young people and enjoys working within the local community.

Colt Beaton is an artist living and practising in Dundee having graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. He is passionate about human connection to the Earth and the importance of working conscientiously with nature. Colt has experience in young adult health and social care as well as working as an outdoor activities instructor. Colt enjoys working in The Sunshine Kitchen garden, “…taking time to learn about different bugs, fungi and other wildlife that we come across, and reflecting together on what they do in the ecosystem of the garden.”

Lisa Donaldson joined The Sunshine Kitchen in 2023 and has since enjoyed working closely with the team, gradually developing her role within the kitchen and becoming more involved in its activities. She studies with The Open University, and is currently working towards her diploma in psychology. Lisa has a keen interest in natural history, and in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and being outdoors. Lisa values the sense of community and shared purpose that working at The Sunshine Kitchen provides.

Ian Williamson is a retired engineer with a background in oil and gas drilling, as well as renewable and other energy sectors. Formerly based in Aberdeen, he travelled extensively during his career and is now retired in Cupar. Ian and his wife, Andrea Ross, a board member of The Sunshine Kitchen, enjoy travelling and spending time outdoors. He is stepfather to Stuart, a long-time member of The Sunshine Kitchen team, and leads a Saturday kitchen session once a month.
Kayo Ono works at The Sunshine Kitchen as Garden Lead Staff, supporting the Garden and Cafe teams. She works closely with team members during practical tasks, helping to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone involved. With a background in science, Kayo brings a calm, practical approach to problem-solving and values clear communication that meets individual needs. Outside of The Sunshine Kitchen, she is also a professional violist and music tutor, working with learners of all ages and abilities.
Caitlin Mitchell joined The Sunshine Kitchen in 2024, supporting staff and team members in the kitchen. She brings a genuine enthusiasm for working with young adults with additional needs, along with a love of cooking, to every session. Outside of The Sunshine Kitchen, Caitlin works at John Fergus School in Glenrothes, supporting children and young people with complex additional support needs. She also enjoys spending time with friends.
Simone Mitchell is a former cafe owner with a love for cooking and baking. At The Sunshine Kitchen, she supports and mentors our team members in both the garden and the kitchen. Simone takes great pride in guiding others through the full journey from seed to plate by sowing and cultivating fresh vegetables, fruit, and herbs, then harvesting and transforming them into delicious dishes to share and sell at markets and the cafe. She finds real joy in helping others build confidence, learn new skills, and experience the satisfaction of creating something from the ground up.
